For
Pavan Mehta, photography is in the genes. Pavan's grandfather,
A.N. Mehta, started the tradition by setting up Mahatta Studios
in Srinagar, in Kashmir, back in 1930. Of course, for Pavan, photography
started off purely as a hobby. But in 1985, it became his bread-and-butter,
when he quit his chartered accountancy practice. Pavan's first
professional assignment - an industrial shoot for MMTC - was well
accepted and paved the way for more. In fact, today, Pavan specializes
in industrial photography, apart from landscapes. According to
Pavan, the greatest honour he has ever received is when "I was
the only photographer invited to the official function of the
Queen's visit to India, hosted by the British High Commission."
Pavan also takes credit for having set up the
first digital studio in India - Mehta Repro Graphics - in 1988.
